France Wedding Photography: An Outdoor Château Wedding at Le Mas de Montet in the Dordogne Valley, France

Château wedding venue in the Dordogne Valley, France

As a destination wedding photographer, this was my very first wedding in France — and it did not disappoint.

Photographing a wedding at Le Mas de Montet, one of the most beautiful château wedding venues in the Dordogne Valley, was an unforgettable experience. The golden light, the timeless charm of the French countryside, and the romantic outdoor setting created the perfect atmosphere for a wedding day full of emotion, elegance, and effortless beauty.

This was the first of many weddings I’ll be photographing in France — and I can’t wait to return in 2026.

Luxury outdoor wedding at a French château venue

A Dreamy Destination Wedding in the Dordogne Valley

The couple had visited France five years before their wedding and knew instantly it was where they wanted to get married someday. When the time came, they chose the Dordogne Valley for its relaxed pace, breathtaking views, and historic charm.

Le Mas de Montet, a stunning château surrounded by nature, was the perfect setting. Tucked away in the heart of the Dordogne Valley, it offered just the right blend of charm and refined luxury — everything you could want from a French château wedding venue.

Outdoor Ceremony Beneath the Trees

The ceremony took place outdoors under the wide canopy of a beautiful old tree, surrounded by the château’s tranquil gardens. With floral arrangements in deep reds and soft whites, the scene felt both romantic and grounded — perfectly suited to the setting and the couple’s vision.

There was no need for extravagance. The natural beauty of the Dordogne countryside, paired with thoughtful details, made the moment feel intimate and deeply personal.

Reception Under the Stars

As the sun set, guests gathered for an outdoor reception beneath glowing fairy lights. The warm tones of the château provided a stunning backdrop, while candlelit tables stretched across the garden — styled beautifully with seasonal flowers and elegant touches.

It was the kind of night you dream about when planning a destination wedding in France: warm air, good wine, and dancing under the stars.

Editorial destination wedding photographer capturing timeless moments in France

Editorial-Style Wedding Photography in France

For this wedding, I took an editorial approach to photography — focusing on the château’s rich textures, the landscape, and quiet, intimate moments. My goal was to enhance what was already there: the golden light, the connection between the couple, and the timeless charm of this region.

France lends itself so naturally to this style. The light, the architecture, the atmosphere — it’s a photographer’s dream.
